THE TAJ MAHAL

⧪The Taj Mahal is the famous mausoleum in the Indian city of Agra on the bank of the river Yamuna. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, son of the Jahangir, one of the successful Mughal emperors for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal in the year 1643.It was architected by Ustad Ahmad Lahaouri.The Taj Mahal is a perfect example of Mughal architecture which is called Indo_ Persian architecture.It is also the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. The Taj Mahal complex includes a mosque, a guesthouse & a formal garden.

⧪The Taj Mahal is very special because of its beauty.It is very significant because Shah Jahan  showed his intense love for his Mumtaz whom he loved most.It is made of ivory white marble.The whole complex is believed to have been completed at a cost estimated around 32 million rupees which in 2020 would be 70 billion rupees approximately.20 000 artisans were employed to build such project.

➤The Taj Mahal was declared as a UNESCO word heritage site in 1983.The Taj Mahal is constructed using the materials from all over India & Asia. It is believed that 1000 elephants are used for the  transportation of building materials. The translucent white marble is brought from Makrana, Rajasthan, the jasper from Panjab, jade, crystal from China, the turquoise from Tibet, the Lapis lazuli from Afghanistan, sapphire from Sri Lanka & the Carnelian from Arabia.Above all 28 types of precious & semiprecious stones are inlaid into the white marble.
 ➤The Taj Mahal is admired as''the jewel of Muslim art in INDIA'',&''Crown of palaces''.The Taj Mahal is a famous landmark and tourist destination attracting million, million visitors every years.The tomb is the central attraction of the entire complex of the Taj Mahal. It is a big white marble structure standing on a square pedestal consisting of symmetrical building with an arched shaped door way with a large dome & finial.The basic elements of Mughal tomb are Persian in origin.

⧭The exterior decoration of Taj Mahal is the example of finest Mughal art & architecture.The elements  of  decoration are applied by paint,stucco,stone inlays, or cravings.The use of calligraphy & abstract forms makes it very appealing.The passages from the Quran that constitutes some of the decorative  elements.Some scholars suggests that Amanat khan chose the texts from the Quran.


The interior chamber of Taj Mahal is decorated with a lapidary of precious & semiprecious gemstones.The inner chamber is an octagon allowing for entry from each face.The interior walls are about 25 metres[82 ft] are topped by a interior dome with a sun motif. There are four central upper arches from balconies & each balcony's exterior windows has an intricate screen or jali cut of marble. The octagonal marble screen is created from eight marble panel curved nicely.The remaining surface are inlaid with semiprecious stones forming twining vines,fruits & flowers.Each chambers are highly decorated.Intricate lapidary inlay, nice calligraphy reflects design elements its exterior & interior of this complex.

⧪The garden is also an attraction of entire complex of Taj Mahal. It is  large and decorates whole campus.It is 300 metre square Charbagh [Mughal Garden] that starts from the end of main gate and ends near the square base of Taj Mahal.The style of garden is Persian. It is divided into four parts.There are sixteen flower beds.Cyprus & fruit bearing trees make its reputation high.In the centre of the garden, there is a marble water tank with reflecting pool to reflect the image of the mausoleum.It is like a paradise.according to Islamic belief that a paradise consists of four rivers one of water, one of milk, one of honey,& one of wine and the Charbagh is originated  from this concept.                                          
                                      ⧪ Taj Mahal is the symbol of love & expression that talks so much History.To go there is an amazing experience for everyone.
